Winter Haven knew snow and winter, but nothing could prepare them for the gruesome deaths that began to plague their town. As enormous footprints are found in the snow, it becomes apparent the roaring echoes in the mountains are more than just the wind. While investigating the deaths and trying to maintain order, Sheriff Joseph Burke discovers a plot to overthrow him. As an Avalanche cuts Winter Haven off from the outside world, Burke struggles to balance the hunt for an unknown predator, threats from a malicious resident, and a betrayal close to home.

As the blizzard worsens and the death toll rises, Burke calls upon the townsfolk to work together and protect the town they call home. Beyond the reach of help, and hunted by a deadly beast, they are on their own.
